The legal Marijuana boom is just another

Segregation Story

A DILEMMA OF INHERITANCE

Americans tend to cast slavery as a pre-modern institution isolated in time and divorced from America’s later success.

When in fact

250  years of slavery and its subsequent incarnations –

60 years of separate but equal.

90 years of Jim Crow.

60 years of Convict leasing.

35 years of racist housing policy and the multifaceted mass incarceration of POC garnered the evolution and modernization of the United States.

A Brutally Dynamic Process

The brutality of legal marijuana is the source of its dynamism.

  • Despite roughly equal usage rates, African-Americans are 3.73 times more likely than whites to be arrested for marijuana
  • When you consider the wealth disparities, African-Americans for the most part don’t have access to copious amounts of cash, add the systematic bans because of marijuana-related convictions African-Americans are disproportionately shut out.
  • Out of 50 states, 36 states have legalized marijuana leaving 14 states and African-Americans make up less than 1% of owners in the legal industry

BIG Marijuana, like its predecessor cotton is incredibly dynamic in difference from other capitalistic opportunities, it is founded on a social system grounded in a peculiar way of dominating humans by means of a racialized fiction to justify ownership exclusively to wealthy, white males.

“There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an idea whose time has come.”
